Pro Zone MLB and NHL Action Figures from Playmates Toys

Pro Zone figures from Playmates were designed to interact with seperately marketed bases in a talking baseball format. The bases featured Intelli-Tronic resistor technology; when activated the stands played recordings of Sports Commentator Stuart Scott as he announced player stats, great moments, etc.

The pitching figure was created to work with a pitching mound stand. The Randy Johnson figure was packaged with the stand; other figures that worked with the pitching mound stand included Curt Schilling and Pedro Martinez. Batting figures were created to work with a batter's box stand. The Barry Bonds figure was packaged with the batter's box stand; other figures that worked with the stand included Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Sammy Sosa and Mike Piazza.

Figures of Roger Clemens, Nomar Garciaparra, Ichiro and Jason Giambi were planned but apparently never released.

In 1997 and 1998 Pro Zone NHL figures were released. Six 13" tall figures were released each year. These appear to be action figures only, without the talking functionality.
