Little Athletes With Big Heads
Corinthian
is the UKs fastest growing Top 50 Toy Company by both volume and value in
2006. The company brands cover both Toy and Confectionery categories. Key licensed
brands include Puppy in my Pocket, Kitty in my Pocket, the FA (Football Association)
and Marvel Micros.
From a sports perspective, Corinthian's major focus
is soccer. Over 170 million football figurines have been sold since company start-up
in 1985. The major soccer brands are ProStars (a 7cm figure) www.prostars.co.uk
and MicroStars (a 5cm version of the same style of figure). NOTE: I do not
have soccer figures on this site.
In the late 1990s Corinthian issued
Headliners, which were large-headed mini-figures of American professional athletes.
Headliners were released for NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA players between 1996 and 1999.
In 2006 Corinthian released two new series of Major League Baseball figures.
These figures, smaller than the Headliners, were called MLB Miniatures or MicroStars.
I don't know if they plan to issue more MicroStars in 2007, but they do show on
their website that the company is licensed to sell MLB products.
